Our own Recreation Department sponsors a number of activities and trips. The Recreation Department will list them here - so please check this page often!

The REC Summer Recreation Program will be running from Monday July 7th - Friday Aug 8th

The summer program is open to Chester children ages four (by January 1, 2008) and potty trained through 8th grade (entering the 8th grade in fall 2008). The older children field trips are available again this year for children entering 5th grade and up. Please take the time to read this packet of information and feel free to ask for clarification if needed. REC Summer Job Openings: The Chester Recreation Department has a limited amount of staff positions in its Summer Recreation Program. Candidates must be 16 years of age and able to work with children between 4 – 13 years of age. Hours are 9-12 AM, Monday – Friday, July 7th- Aug 8th. Some field trip days may require longer hours. Hiring preference is given to previous campers and CIT’s.Applications may be obtained through Chester Recreation Department, 84 Chester St, Chester NH, 03036. 603-887-5773. Deadline for applications is 9:00 AM June 2, 2008.

Chester Junior Girl Scout Troop 2676 - NHSPCA PET Food and Toy Drive

Chester Junior Girl Scout troop 2676 has spent the past school year working for the animals at the NHSPCA while working towards earning their Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award that can be earned by a Junior Girl Scout. They've earned animal-related Girl Scout badges, made cat toys, dog and cat treats, kitten beds and are now starting a collection of dog and cat toys and food. They have placed boxes at Spolletts General Store, Chester Academy and Grinnell School in Derry. The food and toy collection will go on now through June 13th. We are asking the public to please donate an item to this good cause. If you have questions, you can contact troop leader Sue Hannan at 437-5325.

Boating Safely Course - Thur - Sat June 26, 27, 28 (New Dates)

The course will be held at the Chester Fire Department on: (New Dates) Thursday, June 26th from 6pm to 10pm Friday, June 27th from 6pm to 10pm Saturday, June 28th from 8am to Noon. Class size is limited to 20 people. Cost is $25/person. For any questions and to reserve your spot, please call Chester Fire at the non-emergency number 603-887-3878. A free Vessel Safety Check will be available to all residents on Saturday, June 28th from 8am to Noon at the Chester Academy Parking Lot.

The Supervisors of the Checklist

The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on the following dates for the correction of the checklist. You may register to vote or change party on these dates.
Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 7:00P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

These are the ONLY dates that you will be able to change your party affiliation before the State Primary Election day in September. If you were an undeclared voter and did not change back on election day in January, you will need to do so on one of these dates to remain undeclared. Otherwise you will be given the ballot of whichever party you chose at the Presidential Primary in January. New voters need proof of US citizenship and proof of Chester residency. Questions? REC: Kripalu Yoga Classes for Adults

Explore yoga or deepen your practice through Kripalu Yoga: “the yoga of compassion.” In a quietly supportive environment, beginners are guided through postures and breathing techniques that release stress and improve strength, flexibility and balance. Experienced students can refine asana by participating in gentle classes or can enjoy “meditation in motion” through classes focussing on vinyasa. The program is directed by Rhonda Woodward, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, who has been practicing yoga for more than 10 years.
